Cylink Corp, based in Sunnyvale, California, has announced a new DES encryptor for data communications at rates ranging from 75bps to 128Kbps. The product, the Cidec-LS, uses Seek electronic key management, a key management system which is said to eliminate the need for couriers and the associated costs for classic key distribution. Cidec-LS supports both synchronous and asynchronous applications and point-to-point and point-to-multipoint configurations. It also supports diagnostics and alarm reporting and for financial applications X9.17 key management is implemented. Cylink also has a new intelligent channel service unit integrated with its Cidec-HS DES encryptor. The new device, the Cidec-ICSU, features both D4 and ESF frame compatibility, DES encryption with automatic Seek electronic key management, Cylink proprietary and B8ZS ones-density control, extensive network management, access and control as well as standard CSU functions. The Cidec-ICSU enables the use of encryption in network applications sensitive to ones-density and framing. In addition, it will accept subrate input data in either V35 or RS-422 formats and will produce a properly formatted DS1 output signal. All Cidec-ICSUs in a communications facility may be networked together and monitored and controlled from a single central location. With the Cidec-ICSU, encryption, CSU functions and advanced network diagnostics and control are combined into a single device. No prices were given.
