Symantec has announced the availability of two new product offerings for its Symantec Endpoint Protection portfolio.
First up is Symantec Endpoint Encryption v11. As Symantec’s newly consolidated endpoint encryption solution, v11 ‘blends best-of-breed technologies’ from the company’s PGP and GuardianEdge acquisitions into a single console that includes strong disk and removable media encryption along with out-of-the-box reporting and enterprise-scale management.
Next is Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.5. Derived from Global Intelligence Network (GIN), the InsightTM technology in Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.5 blocks new and mutating threats and enables faster scan times by accurately identifying file reputations and scanning only at risk files.
Symantec said that existing drive, endpoint and removable media encryption customers will be entitled the Endpoint Encryption v11 license at no additional charge, provided they’re current on maintenance and their previous licenses have been rolled into the new one.
A blog post said: "For customers who are not yet ready to switch to this new offering, they may continue using their existing disk encryption solutions from Symantec with the knowledge they will work in the same environment with Symantec Endpoint Encryption 11. We encourage customers to reach out to their sales teams for more information in addition to emails they should have received detailing the changes."
Writing about the Endpoint Protection 12.1.5 offering, Symantec said: "Last year, Symantec saw a 91% increase in targeted attack campaigns, which lasted an average of three times longer than in 2012. For those in the security industry, it should come as no surprise that these sophisticated threats are not stopped by antivirus alone. Protection requires leveraging the collective wisdom of the world’s largest Global Intelligence Network (GIN), with data from hundreds of millions of users and sensors across Symantec’s network to stay of today’s mutating malware."
