The security company Symantec has launched an identity manager for enterprise, aiming to balance the need for security and accessibility.
Symantec Identity Access Manager (SAM) will be available on premise and as a hosted service, and claims to support "almost any" cloud or internal web applications.
Teresa Law, part of the marketing team at Symantec, said: "You need to stay competitive and allowing users to work anywhere, anytime is one of the ways your business keeps its edge.
"Ultimately, the burden falls to IT to find a solution to balance innovation with risk, despite their increasingly complex environments – more mobile users on more platforms, more user stores, more apps, more passwords, but not more resources."
SAM manages security across computers, tablets and mobiles, and features a single sign-on feature for the employee’s convenience.
The software supports Symantec’s authentication technology VIP and the digital certificates used with the firm’s Managed PKI (public key infrastructure), while access logs for the software are consolidated across devices to aid compliance.
"Symantec Identity Access Manager provides the much needed control, convenience, and compliance to bridge the gap between IT and the business," Law added.
