Swedbank hit by second hack attack

News: Firm knocked offline by DDoS attack

By Charlotte Henry

Swedbank’s website is down, after the second cyber attack on the firm in a matter of weeks.

Customers are unable to complete online transactions or contact the bank online. However, mobile applications and payments are still working.

A spokesman for the company told CBR that the attack was a DDoS attack, and that it was still ongoing. "Our method to cope with it hasn’t really succeeded yet", he said.

He said that while the security team were confident they knew who was behind the attack, he would not disclose that information.

The firm services customers in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, as well as in Sweden.
