Drones have been given a bad name over the use of them in war zones. However, PETA has found a way of putting them to good use.
PETA have introduced ‘Air Angel’, a surveillance drone that the charity is selling to people who want to keep a watch over hunters to make sure they don’t break the rules.
The Air Angel was debuted on the first day of bow hunting season in Massachusetts this week.
It keeps an eye on hunters to ensure that there are no cruel or illegal hunting practises taking place. If they do catch any illegal hunting behaviour, the watchers can then call the police and get the recorded footage shared online via PETA’s website.
PETA are hoping that this will raise awareness about the cruelty of hunting and put people off hunting altogether.
PETA aren’t the only ones finding new uses for drones. Other organisations have used them to monitor warlord in Africa, deliver textbooks to students in Australia and the Defikopter drone that parachutes defibrillators to heart attack victims and emergency responders.
You can buy the Air Angel for $325 on PETA’s website, however the charity insists that it will not be making a profit from the sales.
