The Organisation for Better Security’s (OBS) has released a new website that offers news and safety advice for members in conflict zones.

The Malta-based non-profit organisation said it uses social networking and video services as well as hourly news feeds and in-depth country reports to help users fight against injury and threats.

Other services include fact-checking, cool analysis and on-the-ground reporting to heighten users’ awareness of risk pertinent to their location.

Christopher Catrambone, founding member of OBS, said having knowledge of conflict zones could make all the difference.

"Journalists, translators, aid workers, contractors, and adventurers travelling in dangerous places can benefit from our up-to-date intelligence of potential threats, changes in security levels, and advice on accessing medical services," he explained.

"Annually-published fact books are great if you’re going to Canada. OBS covers countries whose safety levels change daily: Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya, and Syria, to name a few. Not knowing the current conditions in these places could have major consequences."
