Logica has announced an exclusive alliance with Microsoft that will see it deliver Microsoft’s public and private cloud offerings across EMEA. Logica said it estimates that the exclusive alliance will result in a 10% growth in its cloud revenue over the course of 2011.
Logica also today announced that a Logica-led consortium has won a 10-year, £157m outsourcing contract to deliver the UK Serious Organised Crime Agency’s (SOCA’s) ICT and related services. Logica will deliver the contract with its key partners in the successful i2d consortium: QinetiQ, Detica and Cable & Wireless.
Logica said the Microsoft alliance will enable clients to realise the benefits of cloud services by combining Logica’s business consulting approach and industry specific offerings with Microsoft’s Windows Azure platform, Hyper-V Cloud and Microsoft Office 365.
Logica and Microsoft’s alliance is already bearing fruit with three new clients: Talentsoft, Backelite and Ventadis are now working with both companies’ teams in France to use Windows Azure in their business.

As part of the agreement Logica architects and consultants will have early access to Microsoft cloud technologies and solutions. This will allow European clients to accelerate their business transformation while experiencing the reliability, speed and cost savings which cloud technologies can provide, Logica claimed.

As for a Logica-led consortium winning the £157m UK SOCA deal, Trevor Pearce, director general of SOCA, said: "This contract secures an efficient and sustainable IT platform which will enable us to modernise and enhance our technological capabilities in fighting crime and improve the effectiveness of UK law enforcement in dislocating criminal markets."
The programme is said to be aligned with the Government’s commitment to achieve savings through smarter use of technology, re-use of existing Government assets and shared services. The Cabinet Office’s Efficiency Reform Group reviewed the supporting business case last summer and it was approved by the Home Office and Treasury.
The i2d solution will provide SOCA with a platform for improved collaboration with its partners, exploitation of intelligence and case management, as well as creating efficiencies through consolidation of data centres, networks and desktops.
