Google will stop its free PageSpeed Service web optimisation tool on 3 August to re-focus its efforts elsewhere.
The company urged the users of PageSpeed Service to change their DNS before the deadline. It will send notifications to all users who will be affected by the closure, but cautioned them to check with the console if the email gets lost.
The console will give users advice if they try to delete a domain that is live.
Google launched PageSpeed Service four and a half years ago to make web pages load faster for users.
The company is however offering alternatives to PageSpeed service that are not affected by the deprecation.
Users can use the same Google PageSpeed technology in several alternative packagings and several web hosts already support PageSpeed and offer modules for the same.
Google has developed the open-source Apache module mod_pagespeed with pre-built binary modules for Apache 2.2 and 2.4.
The company has also developed a plugin for Nginx, which is required to be compiled from source. The EdgeCast Edge Optimizer, which integrates Google PageSpeed with their CDN offering, is also being recommended.
