Fujitsu’s Defence and National Security executive director, Tim Gibson, has been elected as the new Chairman of techUK’s Defence and Security Board for the next two years.
The board is comprised of members from various key firms in the sector, and Gibson will liaise with techUK’s board members to lay out the strategic communication agenda with the Minstry of Defence (MoD) and government. The board will be working with MOD CIO Mike Stone on the Mod’s IT strategy.
Gibson has served on the board for the previous four years. He said: "I am delighted to have been elected chairman by my fellow board members.
"The UK MoD is currently going through one of its most ambitious IT transformation programmes. It is a very dynamic time for the UK defence industry and I am excited to be involved at the heart of techUK’s efforts."
One of the key focuses of the board will be supporting SMEs, helping them grow in the defence sector, and understand the impact of government policy and organisational changes.
