Free trial of CommVault Edge offers secure data management

The trial lets employees search, preview and access corporate data from any device.

By Kate Heslop

CommVault has announced a free trial of CommVault Edge, a solution for endpoint data protection, search and access.

The downloadable software trial allows enterprises to experience end user access without requiring additional infrastructure, as all user data is backed up to the CommVault Cloud free of charge.

The complete CommVault Edge solution allows global enterprises to collect and manage all laptop and desktop data rapidly and efficiently in a transparent way to employees, yet minimises risk and maximises control for IT departments.

According to IDG Research Services, 76% of organisations say secure access to company data from mobile devices is critical and 80% of those organisations report that IT spends a lot of time retrieving end user data. With the CommVault Edge trial, IT can experience how they can empower their mobile workforce with secure, self-service recovery that can boost productivity.

The CommVault Edge free trial includes a downloadable software package for Windows and Mac that installs in minutes. There is no infrastructure needed and there is automated file sync for increased productivity, as well as web and mobile apps that provide secure, self-service data access. There is a document search and preview feature that lets users quickly find and retrieve corporate files, free email-based support and Microsoft integration that allows employees to quickly find and recover files using Windows Explorer.

Jeff Echols, senior director, product and solutions marketing, CommVault said: "The volume of user generated data and the pace at which it is being created is putting IT on the defensive and hampering worker productivity when it comes to endpoint data access and recovery. The CommVault Edge free trial programme is designed to give customers an immediate remedy for this acute pain, while also setting the foundation for a more proactive and productive mobile workforce."
