Popular low cost domain provider Easily has become the victim of a cyber attack, that has involved the theft of a list of domain names registered through it.

The firm, which is owned by Net Names, is not yet saying how many customers are affected. It insists that details that could identify customers have not been taken, although the company is unable to guarantee that no credit card data had been taken, according to the Financial Times.

The newspaper has seen emails to customers which say: "Easily is integrated with an outsourced payment provider, ensuring that no credit card data is stored on Easily systems during the course of processing transactions."

Easily owns the rights to the .uk, .london, and .xyz domains. Domain providers are key target for cybercriminals, and ICANN has been hit both in December 2014 and in August 2015.
