Check Point has announced that its security gateways are now available through Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The move will enable customers to use Check Point’s virtual appliance to run firewall, intrusion prevention, application control and URL filtering on any environments running on Amazon’s cloud service.
Check Point says this means customers can protect cloud-based environments in the same way they would for on-premise deployments, with the aim of preventing network attacks and data breaches.
"Infrastructure in the cloud is a reality," said Oded Gonda, vice president of network security products at Check Point. "As many businesses plan to manage their IT infrastructure in the cloud, it’s important to protect both cloud and on-premise infrastructure to ensure that all corporate assets remain secure."
Stephen Schmidt, chief information security officer at Amazon Web Services said that the deal will mean customers can choose which security platform to implement for their cloud environment.
"We offer a shared-responsibility security model that enables customers to choose a security solution that best meets their application’s needs, while AWS remains focused on providing a safe and secure infrastructure," he said.
