Box boost enterprise security with Box Trust initiative

Also launch new secure mobile app, Box for Enterprise Mobility Management.

By Ellie Burns

Box has announced new partnerships with Symantec, Splunk, Palo Alto Networks, Sumo Logic and OpenDNS. The announcement was made alongside the launch of Box for Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM), a new secure mobile app.

Box for EMM is a new mobile app for iOS and Android that enhances secure enterprise collaboration and content access across mobile devices. Vendors including AirWatch by VMware, Dell and MaaS360 by Fiberlink will support integrations with Box for EMM, enabling global customers to easily stay connected without compromising critical security requirements and access controls.

Box for EMM is part of a comprehensive security initiative called Box Trust, providing customers with a unified network of security partners and solutions to ensure the best security service.

The newly announced partnerships will form the Box Trust ecosystem which now includes 19 security, governance and compliance partners to provide trusted services for customers as they manage their content in the cloud.

"The security landscape has undergone a massive transformation as enterprises move their content from legacy, on-premise solutions to the cloud," said Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO, Box.

"This rapid transition has introduced many benefits, including mobile productivity, simplified collaboration and efficient communication, but also new challenges around managing and securing information in a perimeterless business environment."

"We’re building a security model with a thriving ecosystem of partners to provide all new tools and services that secure content in the enterprise."

Box is working with the likes of GE, Toyota, Eli Lilly, Boston Scientific, Procter & Gamble, Chevron, Schneider Electric, Stanford University and others, to build and deliver a new security framework.

This framework aims to put the needs of individuals at the center without sacrificing the visibility, governance and controls that today’s largest businesses demand.

"Making business content available in the cloud is key to our mobility efforts and the related productivity from improved information flow," said Mike Meadows, vice president and CTO, Eli Lilly.

"Encryption and security inherent in the original Box offering was important for us and the efforts by Box to work with partners in a security and mobility ecosystem demonstrates further commitment to the requirements of enterprise IT."
