The MedStar system, used to remotely collect and transmit a patient’s physiological data, supports a high-resolution camera output that enables regular contact between chronic disease patients and healthcare providers.

As our insurance reimbursement system shifts us from hospital- to community-based healthcare, using telemedicine for improved wound care is an inevitable market trend, said Eric Lichtenstein, director of Cybernet Medical. The MedStar system enables healthcare providers to better manage both short-term and chronic wounds at a distance, and to quickly adjust treatment tactics or medications.

According to the company, the MedStar device collects data directly from measurement tools such as blood pressure cuffs and glucose monitors and transmits it to a collection server over a standard telephone line. Additionally, its compatible videophones transmit images over regular phone lines or the internet.

For healthcare providers, MedStar also offers web-based wound care management tools such as a measurement device that visually assesses the healing process via successive digital images.
