As the company looks to expand its cable television business in the UK, Cable and Wireless Plc is rumored to be close to announcing an alliance with the British Sky Broadcasting Group Plc. It is also reported to be preparing to float for its mobile phone operator One2One. According to UK paper, The Express on Sunday, One2One is considering a stock market flotation that could value it at around 2bn pounds. Cable & Wireless owns One2One with US West Inc. In addition another paper, the Sunday Telegraph, reports that Cable & Wireless and BSkyB are poised to announce a strategic alliance that will see them collaborate on digital pay-per-view television due to be launched next year. The report said an announcement was likely within the next two weeks.
