Cable and Wireless Plc has received a set-back to its hopes for expansion in mainland China with news that it will not be expected to take part in the float of 25% of China Telecom (Hong Kong) by the Chinese government. The Chinese government hopes to raise $2bn by the sale. C&W sees no problem and says it has other options for expansion on the mainland.
