Cable & Wireless Communications Plc, the UK phone and Cable TV arm of international telecommunication giant C&W Plc, is spending 17m pounds ($27.8m) upgrading its phone switches in the UK. It has signed with GPT Communication Systems Ltd for its System-X Evolution add on processors which up the capacity of existing switches, and also is adding new software to improve switch performance.
