End-users of Oracle solutions were in attendance at Oracle Open World 2013 this week to discuss how the Internet of Things is driving their businesses forward.
The proliferation of intelligent devices and the rapid growth of the IoT movement has created a market for entirely new solutions based on Machine-to-Machine technology.
As such, organisations need more innovative ways to harness ever-increasing amounts of data and use it to drive smarter decisions, enable new services and business models, and reduce costs.
Oracle said it is continuing to address these challenges with the latest release of Oracle Java ME Embedded, while also working with its partners to deliver integrated, end-to-end IoT solutions.
As a result, customers can create new business opportunities, improve efficiencies, process and analyse in-flight data at lightning speeds, and act on events as quickly as they occur.
Partners and customers continue to embrace Oracle platform and Java technologies to power their Internet of Things initiatives, driving innovation and business opportunity.
Furthering customer and partner value, Oracle added that it continues to deliver new innovations at a high pace across the platform, recently announcing Java ME Embedded 3.3, which it claims provides strong support for market-leading embedded chip architectures and new binaries for ARM architecture-based developer boards, including the Raspberry Pi and the Keil STM32 F200 Evaluation Board for ARM Cortex-M processor-based devices.

Last week, Oracle also released Java ME Embedded 3.4 adding new advanced development and serviceability features, as well as enhanced support for the Qualcomm QSC 6270T platform.
Providing partners the tools and resources they need to extend business opportunities and differentiate their services in the market around IoT, Oracle PartnerNetwork will be launching a Specialisation for M2M in the coming quarters. OPN offers enablement resources and Specialisations in other IoT-related areas including Java, Oracle Database, Oracle Fusion Middleware and more.
During the conference, attendees were anonymously counted at various locations. Trend data and analytics of those traffic patterns were then presented during the Oracle Open World keynote ‘Unlocking Innovation and the Value of Embedded Intelligence on Devices’ on Thursday, September 26.
Oracle customers on hand to discuss what they are leveraging the value of Oracle Java Embedded and Oracle’s IoT platform included Canon, Gemalto, ProSyst and V2COM.
