Mercury Communications Ltd has found the first taker for its international virtual private network which was launched on July 1: Black & Decker is the customer in question and it will be using the service to connect its two London and three US sites into the equivalent of a private voice network; six Black & Decker senior managers have also experimented with connecting their domestic phones to the network, so they can make calls to their transatlantic, office-bound colleagues by dialling a seven digit figure.
