Cullinet Software Inc and Wang Laboratories Inc have jointly announced in Europe the PACE/Cullinet connection, a software package which enables Wang VS departmental processor users to access data on IBM mainframes. For IBM hosted processing, the Professional Applications Creation Environment uses Cullinet’s Information Centre Management System, C/ICMS, to allow data to be made available to Wang VS users. By using PACE/Query, those users can acces information interactively or download it to a Wang database or file to make it available on a Wang network. The queries are automatically translated into a format which allows ICMS to supply the information, which is then presented to the Wang user as PACE tables so no IBM or Cullinet software knowledge is required. A Wang application can access and process information in a single step, without having to first move the data to a database or file on the VS.
