According to Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), the SmartStart is based on SAP’s business all-in-one solution and enables reduction of total cost of ownership, growth of existing business and entry into new markets for wholesale distributors. It added that the solution provides functions required by small and midsize wholesale distributors, including pricing procedures, multi-tiered contractual agreements and rebates and commissions.

Lem Lasher, president of global business solutions and services at CSC said: Combining our strengths in SAP implementations with our expertise in the wholesale distribution industry, we developed a solution that will rapidly decrease implementation time and costs for our customers, as well as help improve their competitive position.

Its rival NetSuite, a vendor of on-demand business applications, has launched a similar solution for mid-sized wholesalers and distributors. The Wholesale/Distribution edition version 2007.0 offers business function management such as transaction forms assistant, matrix item assistant and vendor returns.

Earlier this year, Microsoft also launched the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 beta, a business management solution designed for small and midsize wholesale distributors.
