CSC will replace Accenture as the local service provider for delivery of the IT program in the North East and eastern clusters of the National Health Service (NHS). The firm will continue to fulfill its contractual obligations to provide services to the North West and West Midlands under an agreement that began in December 2003.

The changes are driven by NHS Connecting for Health and its suppliers’ ongoing desire to ensure that delivery of new systems is as rapid as is practicable within existing costs.

Accenture said that it will transfer its responsibilities to CSC over the next 100 days.
