Packaged software deployment start up, Crossworlds Software Inc has completed a $25m round of funding with big name investors standing by the Burlingame, California operation. Compaq Computer Corp has led the investment, with money also coming from the likes of JD Edwards and Manugistics Inc. CrossWorlds recently changed its name from CrossRoads Software and has raised $40m in funding since its inception in April 1996. In March last year it managed to raise $12.6m in investments from Ernst & Young LLP, Intel Corp and SAP AG. The company seems to be a hot prospect within the industry, having attracted private investors that include Michael Dell, Dell Computer Corp chief executive and president; PeopleSoft Inc CEO and president Dave Duffield; former Bay Networks Inc CEO and founder of SynOptics Andy Ludwick, and Roger Sippl, Informix Corp founder and CEO and president of Visigenic Software Inc. CrossWorlds teamed up with PeopleSoft in the summer to develop and market packaged software to connect PeopleSoft products with customer interaction application products (CI No 3,157). Last month CrossWorlds delivered its first product suite, CrossWorlds Customer Interaction, which automates business processes for Enterprise Resource Planning and customer interaction systems. The latest investment will enable the company to extend the development of its out-of-the-box integration product, Processware.
