US West Inc’s US West Communications Inc has won a clean bill of health from Standard & Poor’s Corp, which affirmed the double-A-minus senior unsecured rating of the company’s $5,000m or so of debt and established a stable ratings outlook. The agency cited US West Communications’ good financial position as evidenced by the company’s strong earnings and cash flow, adding that it expects that rate reductions associated with alternative forms of regulation will be offset by revenue generated from enhanced services and continued cost curtailments.
