Creative Technology Ltd, the Singapore-based developer of Soundblaster audio cards, has lost its bid to get a Northern District of California Court to serve a preliminary injunction against its rival Aureal Semiconductor Inc, of Fremont, California. Granting the injunction would mean closing the company, the court said. Creative alleges that Aureal’s Vortex AU8820 AC97 digital audio processor infringes a patent held by Creative. Aureal denies the charge. Creative did however persuade the court that the matter should go to trial.
