Silicon Graphics’ Cray Research unit says it’s now shipped 60 of its 64 processor Origin2000 systems, and set two new SPECrate benchmark performance records for shared memory architecture systems: 9,478 SPEC rate_fp95 peak, and 5,992 SPEC rate_int95 peak – double the previous world record, also set by the Origin2000. Cray has now started early shipments of 128 processor systems (CI No 3,291).
