CRAY RESEARCH HAS AGREEMENT FOR PROPOSED ACQUISITION OF SUPERTEK COMPUTERS

Cray Research Inc now has definitive agreement for its proposed acquisition of Supertek Computers Inc, Santa Clara for $32.5m cash: the company will move to Mendota Heights, Minnesota, its minisupercomputer will be made at the Cray plant in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and the X/MP-compatible S-1 will be offered running under Cray’s Unicos implementation of Unix by the fourth quarter, under a new name; a Y-MP-compatible minisupercomputer will follow some time next year.
