Cray Research Inc reports that it has installed a 16-processor Y-MP C90 supercomputer system at the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, and that it has a $4m subcontract from Martin Marietta Energy Systems Inc for six of its Sparc-based Attached Parallel Processor systems, to be supplied by its Cray Research Superservers unit in Beaverton, Oregon: the system will go in at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory where they will be used for advanced, highly parallel sonar signal processing applications; the contract includes options that could take the value to over $7m.
