Cray Research Inc, Eagan, Minnesota and AEG AG subsidiary Modular Computer Systems Inc in Fort Lauderdale, Florida have signed an agreement under which ModComp will license its Real/IX real-time Unix operating system technology to Cray. The pact also calls for the firms to collaborate in developing the operating system for use in running real-time applications on the Cray Y-MP EL entry-level supercomputer; terms of the deal were not disclosed; seperately, Cray has announced plans to enter the high-end real-time computer simulation market and will work with Applied Dynamics International Inc of Ann Arbor, Michigan, to develop and market real-time products that link the baby Cray Y-MP EL with Applied Dynamics’ Real-Time Station special-purpose computer.
