Could a Nexus 6 be sold for less than $100?

Google is reportedly working on budget Nexus device.

By Ben Sullivan

Google could be planning to release a budget Nexus smartphone that would reportedly go on sale for less than $100, according to an report mentioned by BGR.

It should come with an as of yet unknown MediaTek CPU, but it is not yet sure who would manufacture the device. Whether or not this entry-level device could be the Nexus 6 is still unclear, but with all the other Nexus 6 rumours going around, it looks like it could be an emerging market version of a Nexus 6.

Android Geeks has reported that Google’s next flagship smartphone will likely be released in October. Originally thought to be built upon the template of the upcoming LG G3, it is now a possibility that Google will partner up with HTC to manufacture the device – the same company making the Nexus 8.

The Nexus One was the first Nexus device made by HTC back in 2010, but then LG took over the helm to make the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Android Geeks expects the Nexus 6 to come with a 5.5-inch screen, with a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, and possibly up to 32GB of memory.

The release of the Nexus 6 in October could coincide with the release of Google’s next Android operating system, Android 4.5, which may be dubbed Lollipop, following the trend Android’s sweet-toothed namesakes.
