Corvus Systems UK has announced its new Omninet 4 network, which boasts a transmission rate of 4Mb persecond, thanks to a Corvus and NEC Japan VLSI technology-based interface card: the company has also decided to broaden its appeal and offer an OS/2 facility by licensing Microsoft’s OS/2 local area network manager for use with its Omninet network; Corvus argues that, once combined with LAN Manager, Omninet will be the cheapest network supporting OS/2, and that performance could even exceed that of alternative solutions on other networks.
