Corrections Services Inc, which makes electronic tagging systems for monitoring convicted criminals permitted to remain in their homes, has filed suit against its manufacturer Marconi Circuit Technology Inc and GEC Plessey Semiconductors Ltd: the Fort Lauderdale, Florida company first brought the suit in March, and is seeking to add several counts – breach of written contract alleges that GEC Plessey failed to use reasonable efforts consistent with commercial prudence relating to the manufacture and design of Hawk I units and that it failed to test units properly; breach of oral contract; misrepresentation under Florida law; negligent misrepresentation under Florida law; and violation of the laws of England, specifically the Misrepresentation Act of 1967; the damages sought total about $100m.
