As expected (CI No 3,000) Corel Corp has abandoned per-user for its Windows NT 4.0 version of WordPerfect Suite 7 and Office Professional 7, due out this fall. Corel is touting the new pricing as an alternative to Microsoft’s traditional fee scheme. Users will now pay about $1,500 for the shrink-wrapped WordPerfect suite and about $2,000 for the Office Professional. Corel said server licenses will average about $800. But under the new model, technical support and maintenance isn’t included and users will have to pay for those services separately.
