COREL ANDF MICROGRAFX SETTLE INFRINGEMENT SUIT

By CBR Staff Writer

Corel Corp and Micrografx Inc have buried the hatchet, with the two announcing a joint settlement to the lawsuit filed in January by Micrografx. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed but both companies insist it has no material impact on either. The suit, which was filed in a US District Court fin Texas, contended that Corel had infringed Micrografx’s copyright in the design of its greeting card software. In April, the court denied Micrografx’s request for a preliminary injunction against Corel, a decision which was being appealed when the two parties settled. Micrografx has since signed over the distribution and other rights to the product line in question to The Learning Co, while Corel says it has no plans to change the content of any disputed product.
