Accountant Coopers & Lybrand has reached an out-of-court settlement with the plaintiffs in the MiniScribe Corp fraud case, agreeing to pay out an undisclosed sum that is clearly much less than the $200m awarded by the jury, but which has nevertheless pleased the plaintiffs, who were adjudged to have lost $13.5m plus $7m in potential interest. Coopers & Lybrand persuaded the judge to overturn the $200m jury award, but the plaintiffs’ lawyer said that that was after the settlement was sealed.
