Convex Computer Corp has a $10.4m contract from Ford Motor Co to provide a new system for design research: under the three-year deal with Ford’s Alpha Simultaneous Engineering, it is to install its C4640 minisupercomputer and two of the new 16-processor Precision Architecture RISC-based Exemplar Scalable Parallel Processor systems; the systems will be used to run things like crash analysis, airflow simulations and vehicle system and subsystem performance.
