We understand that Hewlett-Packard Co technology partner Convex Computer Corp has been working on the Very Long Instruction Word technology that will feature in the HP PA 9000 RISC and future Hewlett-Packard-Intel Corp merged architecture. Indeed, much of the work to absorb the processor families into a post-RISC and complex instruction set unit will be done in the compilers.
