The controversy surrounding Reddit’s management and policy changes has likely helped the social media site to boost its page views, to recording breaking 8 billion.
The site got more than 195 million unique visitors last month, in contrast to 177 million in June and 175 million in May, which shows that the heated controversy surrounding the site might have played a huge role in attracting new visitors to the site.
Recently Reddit‘s head of community, Jessica Moreno, resigned from the company becoming the fourth female executive to walk out of the company after AMA coordinator Victoria Taylor, CEO Ellen Pao, and chief engineer Bethanye Blount.
Ellen Pao publically admitted of screwing up the ways in which community and communications were handled and later was forced to resign after the backlash she faced for firing Victoria Taylor who was a popular coordinator amongst users.
The company also introduced new set of content moderation policies.
It is being feared that the controversy alone could have generated traffic, which might be overshadowing the exit of hardcore users, reported Tech Crunch.
Reddit is reportedly up for a ride as regular users who browse the site all day help the company make money through advertising, whereas casual users do not necessarily return to the site.
