Control Data Systems Inc, Arden Hills, Minnesota, is scouring the globe for acquisitions these days, and its latest brings it here to the UK. It has signed a letter of intent to acquire systems integrator Michael Business Systems Plc based in Burgess Hill, near Gatwick airport in Sussex. Privately-held Michael is doing about UKP22.5m a year. Terms of the transaction are still being negotiated, and the acquisition is expected to be finalised in the first quarter. Michael specialises in personal computer local network enterprise-wide networking and integration services to more than 1,200 customers in UK commercial markets. It has 180 employees in three UK locations. This is a tremendous opportunity for us to gain access to the European market and to deliver to our customers something that no other product-independent integrator can- a European-wide network, said Michael Roberts.
