The much-shrunken Control Data Corp used to include separate OEM peripherals and consumer finance companies alongside the computer company – and although both of those are now gone, the company still likes the structure and has decided to recreate it out of its surviving businesses. It plans to split the current business into three separate wholly-owned subsidiary companies computer products, comprising the mainframes and workstations; information services; and government systems. The new structure is intended to accelerate growth and the three companies will have their figures broken out and will be able to raise their own debt financing.
