CONTROL DATA REACTIVATES 3.5″ WINCHESTER EFFORT

By CBR Staff Writer

After two false starts, dogged Control Data Corp is trying again to get it right in the 3.5 Winchester business, and a design team from its Magnetic Peripherals Inc unit has been transferred to Simi Valley, California to develop drives in the 40Mb to 80Mb capacity range. It hopes to have a product by the end of the year, and will make the drives either at the Magnetic Peripherals plant in Oklahoma, or at an offshore location in the Far East.
