Control Data Corp looks for a tough but profitable 1987, chairman Robert Price declared this week, although profits in the first quarter would be touch and go: the company says that it will be profitable across its entire line of data storage devices, business services and computer systems and services for the year – the first two are in profit now but the latter two are not; ETA Systems may do as much as $60m this year but won’t see profits before 1989; investments, joint ventures and acquisitions are being sought to bolster the data storage business.
