ICL was not the only one rushing into RISC yesterday and making good on its promise of new machines based on the MIPS Computer Systems Inc R-series RISC family, Control Data Corp yesterday announced four models of a new departmental computer line called the Control Data 4000 series; the machines run CDC’s Classix implementation of Unix, which it says is System V- and Posix-compliant, and support open networking. No technical or configuration details were available; prices are from $30,000 to $152,000.
