CONTROL DATA GRANTS WILLIAM NORRIS INSTITUTE $9m

By CBR Staff Writer

Now that he has retired from the helm of Control Data Corp, William Norris is to pursue full-time the good works that were a key part of the raison d’etre of the company he founded – with funding from Control Data. The Minneapolis mainframer is putting up $8.96m to fund the William C Norris Institute at one of its buildings, and the non-profit institute will pursue some of Norris’ most notable passions – computer-aided education, manufacturing and other automation for small businesses, and the tracking of US-Japan transfer of technology.
