CONTEST FOR GATEWAY COMMUNICATIONS

A group including New York investment firm Steel Partners II LP says it plans to launch a proxy contest for control of Gateway Communications Inc’s board: the group includes Adage Inc, the West Chester, Pennsylvania shell that is now a producer of recycled paperboard, cold drawn steel and electronic access-control products and systems; the investors hold a total of some 1.15m Gateway shares, or about 22%.
