Data transformation specialist Constellar Corp says it is poised to reveal a new strategic partner after its relationship with Oracle Corp fell apart around nine months ago. We don’t know whether it means partner or perhaps a new owner, but it says it has been looking at all the alternatives and specifically has two sets of discussions underway.

What’s clear, it observes, is that EAI enterprise application integration shops which have made it public so far, have had big brothers standing alongside them. Message broker leader New Era of Networks Inc has IBM Corp, while data transformation market leader TSI Software International Inc has SAP AG.

The Gartner Group’s EAI conference in Palm Springs, California this week – while nowhere near as big a gig as last November’s shindig in Orlando, Florida – was focused on the issue of ‘de- confusing’ the market, Constellar said. With just about any ISV with any kind of integration capability adding the EAI acronym to its boilerplate, the pot is already overflowing with choice and the market is confused, it believes. Constellar believes the next wave of EAI opportunities are focused on building out solutions that encompass each of the industry’s core services which are currently focused on discreet offerings for messaging, packaged application integration, data warehousing and legacy application integration. EAI over IP is coming, the company says.
