A consortium in which Millicom Inc has a 30% stake has received a 20-year national licence to establish and operate a cellular telephone system in Guatemala: the licence, awarded by Guatel, gives Millicom and its partners the exclusive right to provide cellular telephone service for five years; Comvik International AB of Sweden has 15% and Guatemalan partners the rest.
