Conner Peripherals Inc is not one to hide its light under a bushel, and the San Jose company has gone out and bought itself two very big names indeed to join its board as non-execs: the two are the celebrated William Anderson, former chairman of NCR Corp, who laid the seeds for the transformation of the dozy cash register company into one of the most successful of the $5,000-plus computer companies, and Peter Ueberroth, who as well as serving as sixth commissioner of Major League Baseball, organised the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and showed how to make them profitable.
