Conner Peripherals Inc, where Compaq is a major investor, is gearing up for manufacture of its new 100Mb 3.5 Winchester disk drive, preparing a new plant in San Jose, California which will employ 300 people making the high-capacity drives. A large part of early output of the drives is expected to go to Compaq.
