Who is that snoring away in a cubicle in the bathroom? Why, it’s the freelance IT contractor, sleeping off a large liquid lunch. And when he finally makes his way into the systems’ room, the year 2000 is not the date he has on his mind – it’s getting a date with an attractive member of staff to which he will devote the rest of his day. According to a new survey, IT consultants often turn out to be lazy, poorly qualified drunks with sex rather than systems on their mind. Elan Computing found that 89% of respondents had problems with consultants not being up to the job while 36% mentioned sexual harassment and drunkenness. And in one case, a contractor had to be given his marching orders because he smelled so bad that it became increasingly offensive to other staff.
